Cinema speculation
Quentin Tarantino, cult director of films such as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp fiction, is himself, first of all, a great cinema buff. In fact, his works are rife with quotes and echoes of great directors and films, and its latest one, Once upon a time... in Hollywood, features Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. Cinema speculation tells about his great passion, interweaving technical analysis of the films that marked the great director's tastes and aesthetics with autobiographical fragments. Indeed, the book's first chapter opens with a childhood memory, from the early 1970s, when he used to go to the cinema with his parents and watch films that were not age-appropriate without asking too many questions and learning to observe the world of adults. Tarantino writes about each of his chosen films paying great attention to details, analysing their structure, dialogue, pace and narrative, also taking advantage of his large knowledge of ‘the seventh art’, without sparing critique or praise.
