Digitising sensibly
Research attempts to create order in the relationships between the digital economy and the culture of producing
The last frontier for companies is the digitalisation of production and the economy in general. The fourth industrial revolution. It must be taken seriously from all points of view, also – and above all – from a cultural point of view. Digitising cannot mean taking the human aspect out of production.
These topics are addressed in “Culture of economy in the digital society”, which was written by several authors – Dmitriy Stozhko, Lyudmila Zhuravleva, Tatyana Kruzhkova and Ekaterina Kot, a group of historians, philosophers and economists from the University of Ekaterinburg (Russia).
This article addresses the use of digital technologies in the modern economy as well as the impact these technologies have on the content and nature of the culture of the economy. It starts therefore by systemising the sources and then takes an in-depth look at the method of comparing them, arriving at defining some basic principles of the necessary relationship between digital and cultural values of production.
“Any acceleration in the development of a phenomenon (economy, culture, instruction),” as explained by the authors in the conclusion, “creates conditions for increasing uncertainty, instability and risks. (…)” As a result of this, it has become necessary to “update the following principles: the principle of social security (man and society), the principle of social justice, the principle of social responsibility (the responsibility of the government and business towards society) and the principle of social partnership (refusal of violent scenarios for creating social relationships)”. Even more importantly, when facing the digitalisation of the economy and production, maintaining a “culture of the economy as a system of values” is an objective to be achieved, always placing more importance on the “intellectual goods (capital) of enterprises and, secondly, the development of the creative potential of the individual (employee)”.
“Culture of economy in the digital society” is the summary of a laudable effort to harmonise the different needs that arise from economic and productive development that do not necessary conflict, but must be well understood and managed.
